Priority Area:
Data and Evaluation
The Data and Evaluation
team is composed of statisticians, researchers and other
professionals with expertise in the principles of data collection, data
management, and data analysis as they apply to examination of data on
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other types of infant death. Team
members review methods by which infant death data are collected and
reported and seek to find ways to improve upon those systems. They also
disseminate SIDS/ID facts and statistics to the public and to
professionals in the field. The team has plans to assemble a national
database of information on SIDS/ID support programs throughout the United
States, which will provide basic information on the risk reduction
efforts, bereavement support services, and other activities of those
organizations."
- Follow this link (pdf
file, 22 kb) to download a table of statistical and data sources in
maternal and infant health. The table includes resources from federal
and state agencies and from non-profit organizations. It contains
links directly to the Web sites of those organizations and for each
one briefly lists featured information that is specific to SIDS/ID and
general infant health. While the list of organizations/agencies
provided is by no means exhaustive, it does provide a starting point
from which to seek out further information about such topics as infant
sleep position, birth rates, prenatal care, etc. Check back regularly
as this table will be updated periodically with new information.
